Ecuador: A Strategic
Origin for cacao

In 2024, Ecuador cultivated around 612,453 hectares of cocoa, with about 150,000 mainly small-scale farming families contributing most of the production. Manabí, Los Ríos, and Guayas account for roughly 80% of output. An estimated 100,000 families still need better support, which programs like Riviera Cocoa’s Sustainable Impact provide through training and fair treatment initiatives.

This represents a remarkable 155.7% increase compared to 2023. These figures underscore Ecuador’s position as one of the world’s leading cocoa producers and a key player in the global cocoa market.
